Ceremony and Vows

A very special friend of mine, known as The Rev, offered to do our ceremony for us. This was one of the best wedding decisions I made. He is a fellow teacher. I believed strongly that I wanted a ceremony that focused on the history of love and one that contained elements of teaching. More of a "lesson on love" than a sermon on love. Mr. Calioc and I decided to put our trust and faith in The Rev and gave him only a few simple guidelines when it came to what we wanted in the ceremony. We let him write it without showing it to us. We heard it for the first time during our ceremony, and it was more than I could have ever hoped for.

With this ring...

The rings are done! It took two tries, but they are perfect. I did my best to take pics with my camera using the macro setting, and I forgot to clean my engagement ring before taking the photos, but I think they turned out pretty good. If you look closely you can see the camera reflection in his ring.
Each ring is engraved, his reads "Baby it's fact" and our wedding date, mine reads "our love is true" -- I tried to take pictures of the engraving, mine didn't turn out, but the pic of his is okay. The choice of words comes from our first dance song "Baby it's Fact" by Hellogoodbye.

There are quite a few people who think I am strange for wanting sapphires in my wedding band, saying that it "wasn't meant to be" when the band was made wrong the first time; so, I'm hoping these pictures will show everyone just how amazing the two rings look together.

I love this look so much and I can't believe it is mine! I hope that does not sound too materialistic, but I have never owned anything like this before. This is by far the most amazing piece of jewelry I've ever seen or owned!

Invitations, RSVP's, and other Rants...

I know, I know, I've neglected my blogging and now I am so far behind I'm not sure where to begin! First off -- I mailed my invitations!! Woot Woot! They went in the mail this past Saturday, May 10th and I received my first RSVP on Monday! So far I have 15 RSVP's. My bestfriend's mom, let's call her bfm, called my parents sounding very confused. Apparently she hadn't connected the return address on the envelope to the phone number for the RSVP. So, she called my parents and said, "Um, I'm not exactly sure who I am calling, but I need to RSVP for the wedding." My mom then said, "Okay, I'm calioc's mom, who am I talking to", and bfm replied with her first name, which of course meant nothing to my mom. After a little more awkward bumbling it finally came out that bfm wasn't sure if she was going to be able to make it to the wedding, and just wanted us to know that she would try to get a shift change at work and that she wasn't sure how to go about RSVPing online, so she thought it would be best to call. My mom said it was rather funny and that she hopes that not everyone who isn't sure if they can go calls; she'd rather them wait until they know to RSVP.

I think I found a place that will dye my shoes; I'm going there after work tomorrow, so wish me luck! It also looks like we will finally go look at wedding bands and tuxes this weekend. I will update on Sunday with all of the details.

Okay, that is it for now. I will (hopefully) do a better job of keeping this updated in the future!
