Shower anyone?

My moh is the best! I've been wanting to post my bridal shower invite for awhile now, but I didn't have a way to edit out the addresses and names, but now I think I have figured it out. My moh made the invitations herself and, from what I understand, the entire bridal shower is diy. I can't wait to see everyone dressed up in their sundresses and hats! Double click on the image so you can see the cute poem she wrote.

Invitations, RSVP's, and other Rants...

I know, I know, I've neglected my blogging and now I am so far behind I'm not sure where to begin! First off -- I mailed my invitations!! Woot Woot! They went in the mail this past Saturday, May 10th and I received my first RSVP on Monday! So far I have 15 RSVP's. My bestfriend's mom, let's call her bfm, called my parents sounding very confused. Apparently she hadn't connected the return address on the envelope to the phone number for the RSVP. So, she called my parents and said, "Um, I'm not exactly sure who I am calling, but I need to RSVP for the wedding." My mom then said, "Okay, I'm calioc's mom, who am I talking to", and bfm replied with her first name, which of course meant nothing to my mom. After a little more awkward bumbling it finally came out that bfm wasn't sure if she was going to be able to make it to the wedding, and just wanted us to know that she would try to get a shift change at work and that she wasn't sure how to go about RSVPing online, so she thought it would be best to call. My mom said it was rather funny and that she hopes that not everyone who isn't sure if they can go calls; she'd rather them wait until they know to RSVP.

I think I found a place that will dye my shoes; I'm going there after work tomorrow, so wish me luck! It also looks like we will finally go look at wedding bands and tuxes this weekend. I will update on Sunday with all of the details.

Okay, that is it for now. I will (hopefully) do a better job of keeping this updated in the future!

The invitations are here!

When I came home from running errands this afternoon, there they were, waiting for me on the porch in a plain brown box. I ran up the stairs and knew that inside that boring box were my invitations -- exciting! I opened it right away to inspect my loot, and saw how perfect they are! So happy!
Here is a link to my invites: Invitations by Dawn -- the text is in Turquoise and we went with the pearl lined envelopes to match the daisies on the invite!

Spa Day!

Hello! I belong to the best gym in the world -- Total Woman Gym and Atmosphere Day Spa -- and I am a "spa" member, meaning that I get one massage or facial a month included in my membership. Now, generally I would not be able to afford such a luxury, but when I joined 3 years ago they had an educators special that could not be beat, and they never raise the monthy rate. So, once a month for the last three years I've been getting a massage. So, today I went in for my monthly massage and two great things happened. First, they are running a special for current spa members to upgrade for only $35.00 extra a month to a two treatment plan -- so now I get a massage and a facial once a month! Which is great because I always ended up buying the facial anyway (which is $70.00). Second, they are running a special to purchase three treatments on a gift card for the same price as two treatments, so I decided to buy each of my bridesmaids a massage. The plan is to have a bridesmaid "spa day" the week of the wedding! I am so excited!

On another note, I am finishing my guest list by next weekend so I can order my invitations! Now I need to start thinking about wording...

Bye for now!

teenagers or kids, that is the question...

So, the biggest fight I've had with my mom (so far) about the wedding is that my fh and I don't want to invite kids. Here is the post I just left on weddingbee:

So, after incessant fighting with my mother I have given in to one of her demands-- technically we compromised, but now I have another problem. My fh and I did not want to invite kids to the wedding and our definition of a child is anyone under the age of 18. The compromise is that we will now allow teenagers at the wedding, which is apparently defined as anyone 13 or older.
So, here is the problem... How do I word that on an invitation??? What if one family has a 15 yr old, a 13 yr old, and a 10 yr old?? How do I now exclude one, but not the others? Not inviting kids was easy, address the envelope to the invited adults and put "adult reception immediately following ceremony" at the bottom of the invite. Now I have no idea what to do???

I need to order my invitations by the end of this month. Apparently, I have already hurt some family members feelings because my mother told people that we were not inviting kids. I don't know why she did that -- up until this point we'd only been TALKING about it, no decisions had been made. This is all very frustrating. Ugh.
