Table Names and Escort Cards Part II

The escort cards are done, well except for one person who called LAST NIGHT to say her husband will come with her. My moh did all of the handwriting on them for me.


We color coded the cards for the meals, but we also decided to add a stamp to the back with the meal choice. I found menu stamps at papersource.com and then used a Versa Magic Multi-Surface Chalk Ink Pad to stamp the escort cards (in Sea Breeze). I had tried other stamp pads, but they would just smear off of the Stardream surface.



The table names are schools where we have either been students or where we have worked (in some cases both). We are seating my side at tables with my fh's schools and his side at tables with my schools.


On the back of the table names we put our school picture and some interesting info about us from that time.


I found the daisy holders on ebay for cheap -- they are really seating card holders, but they work pretty well for holding up the table names.
We thought this would be a nice way to tie in our Education Theme without it being too cheesy!
~ The only project I have left to do is making my veil! I've finished our programs and I will blog about them later today!

Duck, duck, goose!

Tomorrow my fmil and my mom are coming over to do the seating chart. Wow, I can't believe it is already that time. I think I am starting to get nervous; I had a migraine this morning and now I have a tummy ache. My escort cards came in the mail today, not that it means much because they are blank... the rehearsal dinner invitaitons also came (they are also blank), and our guestbook came! It was a busy day for USPS. I will take pics of everything tomorrow and do some updates. The seating chart adventure shoud be interesting. My venue only holds 13 tables, with a maximum of 10 people per table. We wanted 8 per table, but it looks like we will need to have 9 per table.

My attempt at DIY...

So, the question is "how to do seating cards"? I know that the easy way is to simply have a small card with each person's name and their table name on the card and have them sitting in alphabetical order on a table. However, I saw these really cute pails at Target and had to buy them -- they match my daisy theme and one of my colors! But, what to do with them??? ( I bought 21 of them)


Then, my fmil gave me a chocolate daisy sucker for easter, and an idea came to me! I can make each guest a chocolate candy sucker (I've already found molds on ebay) with a tag hanging off of it with their name and table. But, how to display them??? I could just have the suckers lying on the table, but then I remembered the pails!!! I'm thinking I can use the pails to display 8 or 10 of the suckers fore guests to grab and find their table. So, today I played around with the idea, and the pictures below are the result. Now, I only have one sucker to work with right now, so you'll have to imagine it with more (about 8)... but you get the idea!



Here is how I did it. First I ran some turquoise ribbon through my Zyron sticker maker and used that on the top and bottom of the pail, then I put styrofoam inside the pail with spanish moss on top, and then I stuck the sucker in! Voila! All done in less than 5 minutes.

So, what do you think? Is it too cheesey? What can I do to make it look/work better? I will admit that I had no idea how expensive styrofoam was -- so I may need to find an alternative to that. Any ideas??
